- The river and swamps become increasingly important water sources and wildlife may be easier to locate; this is also a popular travel period.
- November to December — short rains
- Fresh growth, changing skies and active birdlife bring a greener mood; rain and local road conditions remain part of daily planning.
- January to February — warmer interval
- Often a useful window between the main rains, with wildlife patterns shaped by recent rainfall and water across the ecosystem.
- March to May — longer rains
- Lush scenery and quieter travel can appeal to repeat visitors and photographers, while access, activities and some accommodation operations require reconfirmation.

- TANAPA places the main gate about 121 kilometres by tarmac road from Arusha. Actual journey time varies with collection point, traffic, stops, gate procedures and road conditions.
- By air
- Kuro Airstrip can connect Tarangire with selected northern safari hubs and Zanzibar when scheduled or charter services operate; exact routing, minimum loads and baggage limits must be confirmed.
- Where it fits
