Ngorongoro is a year-round destination. The best period depends on whether you value drier conditions, green landscapes, seasonal wildlife movement or fewer visitors.
- June to October — drier conditions
- Generally cooler and drier, with wildlife often easier to observe around dependable water and grazing areas.
- November to May — green season
- Fresh landscapes, dramatic skies, migrant birdlife and a softer photographic character, with showers and occasional access changes.
- December to March — Ndutu season
- A valuable extension for travellers interested in the southern Serengeti ecosystem and seasonal calving activity; exact wildlife locations remain natural and variable.
