Journey overview

What this journey is

Urithi's flagship Kilimanjaro climb. Seven trekking days give the body a genuine opportunity to acclimatise across five vegetation zones, while the guide team monitors, communicates and decides. We do not offer a six-day Machame shortcut as a lead product.

Day by day

Your Journey, Day by Day

A guide to the shape of the trip. The final itinerary is confirmed before travel and adapts to season, conditions and your pace.

  1. Day 1 — Arrive in the Kilimanjaro area

Private transfer to the confirmed hotel, rest, confirm baggage and complete the detailed equipment and health briefing before the climb.

  2. Day 2 / Trek 1 — Machame Gate to Machame Camp

Register, meet the wider crew and begin through the montane forest at a deliberately measured pace.

  3. Day 3 / Trek 2 — Machame Camp to Shira 2

Leave the forest for heath and moorland, gaining height toward the Shira Plateau landscape.

  4. Day 4 / Trek 3 — Lava Tower to Barranco

Climb higher during the day and descend to sleep lower at Barranco, with the guide monitoring individual response.

  5. Day 5 / Trek 4 — Barranco to Karanga

Cross the Barranco section under close guide direction, then continue to Karanga for a shorter acclimatisation-focused day.

  6. Day 6 / Trek 5 — Karanga to Barafu

Reach high camp, prepare equipment, eat, rest and receive the final summit-attempt briefing.

  7. Day 7 / Trek 6 — Summit attempt and descent to Mweka

Begin in darkness toward Stella Point and, only if health, time and conditions allow, continue to Uhuru Peak before descending to Mweka Camp.

  8. Day 8 / Trek 7 — Mweka Gate and hotel

Complete the forest descent, sign out, meet the transfer and return for a shower, meal and recovery night.

  9. Day 9 — Departure or continue in Tanzania

Transfer to the confirmed airport, begin safari or add Zanzibar on a protected schedule.
