Day 1 — Arrive in Katavi
Fly on the confirmed service, meet the camp team and begin wildlife viewing as the available light and access permit.
Day 2 — Katavi wildlife day
Explore river, plain, wetland edge and woodland habitats with the day's route shaped by current conditions.
Day 3 — Deeper into the plains
Continue at a private or camp-led pace, with a specialist walk or night experience only when approved and included.
Day 4 — Katavi to Mahale
Transfer to the airstrip for the confirmed flight, arrive at Mahale's stated airstrip and continue by the lodge's approved boat or ground arrangement.
Day 5 — First chimpanzee trekking opportunity
Attend the lodge and park briefing, then trek with the required guide according to current chimpanzee location, trail conditions, fitness and health rules.
Day 6 — Forest and lake rhythm
Another approved chimpanzee trek or guided forest experience, balanced with lodge-led lakeshore activities when conditions and safety permit.
Day 7 — A final Mahale day
Keep flexibility for primate tracking, birding, boating, kayaking, fishing or quiet time by Lake Tanganyika as expressly offered and approved.
Day 8 — Boat, airstrip and onward flight
Transfer according to the confirmed lodge and flight plan, then continue to Dar es Salaam or the approved onward connection.
